Our log
beds are designed from native white cedar logs that are individually skip peeled by hand and sanded smooth. We
try to preserve unique characteristics of each log such as shape, taper, knots and worm tracings. Our
beds are made with traditional mortise and tenon wood joinery. For additional strength, heavy lag screws are used
to join uprights with crosspieces at the corners. We provide wood plugs so that when assembled these bolts are hidden
from view. Bed parts are labeled for easy assembly and breakdown.
The overall footprint of a
log bed depends on mattress size and the diameter of the logs. We
offer complete cedar log beds, right down to the flattened log slats that support the mattress. These are mortised
into the log side rails. Another option, especially in tighter spaces, is a headboard and footboard bolted to your
own metal rails. We also offer just headboards to attach to metal rails or the wall. Please let us know if you need a special size.

These
white cedar beds are available with or without a finish. Unfinished pieces are sanded smooth and are very pretty
and durable in the creamy white color. With a penetrating oil the
cedar turns a golden color and takes on a more rustic look. The oil hardens in the wood for a tough matte-like
finish. Another option is polyurethane, which also darkens the wood.

We prefer pick up of large pieces such as
beds. We are on the Vermont border less than 2 hours north of Albany. A bed can be broken down to fit in a
pickup truck or van.
